Truckman, the UK manufacturer and distributor of 4x4 accessories, will unveil two new versions of its hardworking commercial Classic and Utility hardtops at the Commercial Vehicle Show in September.

Incorporating new features including improved handles, increased reinforced roof strength and optional remote central locking, the canopies will benefit tradespeople and field-based engineers who need the all-terrain capabilities of a pick-up truck combined with the storage capacity of a van.

The high capacity and solid-sided Classic is considered one of the strongest hardtops on the market. The new hardtops will be initially available for the double cab and extra cab models of the new Isuzu D-Max Mk 6, and the range will be expanded as new pick-ups hit the market.

The Classic also introduces a stylish and easy to use handle with optional remote central locking on the rear door for increased security and accessibility. It also features luxury carpeted lining on the inside of the hardtop and rear door, which will allow customers to neatly add accessories such as roof bars, vents, and beacons, as well as insulating the truck bed.

Among the new additions to the Utility hardtop is an innovative ‘T-handle’, which provides a superior grip to open the solid rear and side gull-wing doors, even when wearing the thickest work gloves, and can also be fitted with optional remote central locking.  The new streamlined design also features redesigned hinges with improved durability to withstand rugged commercial usage.

In keeping with Truckman’s existing Utility range, the new model offers all-round easy access to tools and equipment through the rear door and two side gull-wing doors, which are all hydraulic assisted and can be easily opened with one hand. It also features a sleek over-rail design to prevent water ingress, smooth wipe-clean interior for easy maintenance, a solid rear door and bulkhead, and clamp fitting for quick and easy installation.

Manufactured from robust GRP fibreglass which can be colour-coded, both hardtops now include a high-level LED brake light if the vehicle’s own light is obscured to help customers on the road stay visible to other drivers, as well as a new stylish solid rear door for enhanced privacy and security.  Both can be easily adapted with a range of accessories, including racking and drawers, and optional roof bars, which can be fitted to the reinforced roof enabling it to carry a static load of up to 500kg.

Mike Wheeler, Executive Chairman of Truckman, said: “We are really looking forward to unveiling the new Utility and Classic hardtops at the CV Show.  The Classic will be the centrepiece of our stand alongside a selection of new and bestselling commercial vehicle accessories, while we are exceptionally proud that Isuzu have chosen to showcase the Utility on its stand.

“The CV Show has always been at the heart of the industry’s calendar, and it will be so good to welcome visitors to our stand again after the interruption caused by the pandemic.”

The 2021 Classic and Utility hardtop will be showcased for the first time at the exhibition that takes place between 31st August and 2nd September at the NEC in Birmingham with the Classic displayed on the Truckman stand (5F70) and the Utility exhibited on Isuzu’s stand (5D60).
