Integrated Central Locking

ARB's Ascent features fully integrated remote central locking which utilises the vehicle’s existing locking system. The central locking system connects to the factory wiring through using a ‘plug and play’ wiring loom, which ensures that splicing of wires is not necessary. All doors and windows feature slam-shut closing, and the rear door features a manual key override.

Lift-Up Windows

The Ascent hardtop features popular lift-up side windows that are operated by a discreet electrical button that runs from the vehicle’s battery, this allows for easier cargo management and access to the back of the utility.

Ascent Window Vent Catch

Transform the Ascent window into a window that can be adjusted between a lift-up or pop-out position. Improve airflow or even run a mains power cord back into the canopy while keeping the contents of your vehicle safe and secure with the catch’s central locking integration. Additionally, the vehicle can even be driven with the window in the pop-out position.

Development & Testing

ARB developed their Ascent canopy from a blank canvas, meaning that they were required to validate new designs and put them through a rigorous testing regime. Utilising a combination of software, laboratory and real-world testing, ARB’s canopy team performed validation simulations using the latest software through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in CAD along with real-life testing of a complete canopy in their specially built thermal chamber with temperatures up to 90°c.

Modern Design

Adding to the visual appeal of the Ascent, the design features a double-curved rear door and side windows with frameless, tinted safety glass rated to international standards. 5mm thick with a dark grey tint (28% visual light transmission), the tinted safety glass ensures cargo is protected from UV penetration and adds security against prying eyes.

High-Flow Vent

A standard feature of the Ascent canopy – the slimline, high-flow canopy vent is ideal for when it comes to reducing dust ingress. With the open vent facing the front of the vehicle, the canopy’s interior is pressurised, preventing dust from entering from the rear door or tailgate.

How tough is the glass?

We use 6mm toughened glass that is curved to fit the contours of the hardtop.

Do I need to order a J-Brace with my hardtop?

When fitting a hardtop on some vehicles, a J-Brace is required to comply with the vehicle's safety legislation. As it currently stands, a J-Brace is required when fitting a hardtop to a 2023 onwards Ford Ranger (Mk8) or to a 2023 onwards VW Amarok (Mk3). As new vehicles are released, we expect the amount of vehicle models that will require this will increase. In some cases, you may also require a J-Brace when fitting some lift up tonneau covers and roller shutters. If you are fitting a roller shutter and adding cross bars, you'll require one if you will be carrying 45kg or more weight on top. J-Braces are vehicle and model specific, so if you do require one, please ensure you order the correct one to match your vehicle. Can I change the windows in my hardtop to a different style?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Each of our hardtops are bespoke, hand made in a mould to suit which windows are going to be installed in it. The shape of the hardtop has been specially designed to ensure the windows that are installed create a sealed unit and fit correctly. For example, you may have a Truckman hardtop with pop out windows (Grand), but you are finding that you need side access or more ventilation. Unfortunately, it's not possible to take the out the window and replace it with a side access door or sliding windows, as the shape would be completely different. Another common question is - can I fit a window into my solid sided hardtop? Unfortunately, again this is not possible. We would never recommend cutting holes into our hardtops, the risk of damaging the hardtop beyond repair is too much.

How do I maintain my hardtop?

You can maintain your hardtop by regularly greasing the locks, checking the clamps are tight and aligning the slam latches. For more detail, see the following video.

How is a hardtop secured to my vehicle?

Your hardtop is attached to your vehicle by six clamps securely tightened to eight newton-metres, so there's no need for any drilling to the vehicle. These clamps make sure the neoprene foam seal stays in place. All electrics are wired through a multi-plug. Hardtops are designed to fit to vehicles either with an under-rail bed liner or no bed liner. If you have an over-rail bed liner, a small modification may be required.Please note on some newer model hardtops, for example the Amarok, this uses a bolt-on system instead.

Does the hardtop make my truck bed 100% waterproof?

Our hardtops are designed to be weatherproof, so they can take the British outdoors in their stride. They feature built-in seals around both the load bed and windows, and although no canopy is 100% leak proof when subjected to extreme rainfall over a prolonged period, all Truckman's hardtops are designed to withstand everyday downpours. Keeping your hardtop well maintained can help avoid water ingress.
