Isuzu To Release A Fully Electric D-Max

Isuzu To Release A Fully Electric D-Max

Unveiled earlier this year, the concept vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive and offers a one-tonne payload. As it stands, the vehicle is expected to be starting production as early as next year with Norway being the first market before expanding into other markets.

A spokesperson for Isuzu UK said “The Isuzu D-Max BEV represents a new era for pick-up trucks, combining the legendary toughness of the D-Max with electric technology. We are proud to work with a manufacturer committed to creating a carbon-neutral future and announce this innovative vehicle to the UK market, providing our customers with an environmentally friendly option without compromising on performance or reliability”

The D-Max BEV has a maximum power output of 174bhp and 325Nm of torque, from its two electronic motors, which is slightly more powerful than the current 1.9L diesel Isuzu D-Max. Power is supplied from a 66.9kWh battery.

Isuzu hasn’t published a range figure for the D-Max BEV, but they have claimed a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.

The electric pick-up class is set to grow significantly over the coming years. Currently, the Maxus T90 is the only such car on sale in the UK, although the US also gets the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Tesla Cybertruck.
