THATCHAM SECURITY ALARMS NOW AVAILABLE FOR TRUCKMAN HARDTOPS

Truckman, the UK’s leading supplier of pick-up truck hardtops, is now able to offer the UK’s first Thatcham certified alarm system for their extensive range of hardtops, providing security and peace of mind to drivers.  

The L4V Alarm uses a range of wireless Passive Infrared (PIR) and movement sensors around the hardtop and in truck bed, including on windows and doors, which are integrated to the vehicle’s electronics.  When triggered, it raises the alarm by sounding the vehicle’s horn, flashing its lights, and sending a notification to the driver’s mobile phone via the FordPass Pro App. 

According to rural insurer and farming industry body, the National Farmers Union Mutual (NFU), in 2022 pick-up truck thefts doubled compared to the previous 2021. Toyota Hilux’s and Mitsubishi L200’s were the most regularly targeted pickup models, with the VW Amarok theft rates up by more than 50% compared with 2021.  

Thatcham certified alarms are considered the industry benchmark for vehicle security, deterring thieves and lowering insurance premiums once fitted. To gain a Thatcham Security Certification, alarms and immobilisers must undergo a robust assessment by Thatcham Research, which put them through various trials in order to confirm the performance.  

The new L4V Alarm, developed by the leading aftermarket vehicle security firm Locks4Vans, will initially be available for the All-New Ford Ranger, with alarms for the Isuzu D-MAX and Toyota Hilux available shortly.
